HOHO Stop #3

Our final stop was Trinity College to see the Book of Kells. I had heard that lines were immense, especially first thing in the morning.  The cost was 9 euro just to get into the library to see the Book of Kells, or for an euro more, one could have a tour of the Trinity College grounds, given by a third year student. We had timed our arrival poorly, and had nearly an hour wait for the next tour, but it was worth the 1 euro charge. Our guide was an extremely handsome young man, with a charming accent and demeanor , who gave us an informative tour of the center courtyard. After the tour we got into the still long, but bearable line to see the famed Book of Kells. The history of this ancient (800 A.D.) manuscript is fascinating. It originated in Scotland, but was taken to Ireland for safekeeping due to all the Viking raids happening in Scotland.

After our tour it was time to meet the shuttle to go back to the ship.

The following day we finally had our first of two sea days, and had a chance to rest and recharge. We were fortunate that the weather was fine, and we sunbathed or enjoyed the hot tub.
