Dartmouth-Quaint, and very English

Our second full day found us in Dartmouth, England, which is in Cornwall. Dartmouth gets its name because its at the mouth of the Dart River, which runs through the Dart Moor (If you have read Withering Heights or many a Gothic Romance set in England, you can image how wild and beautiful a moor can be). We had signed up to ride a vintage train (Husband is a railfan), that also included a stop to Buckfast Abby, home to a small group of Benediction Monks who are famed for their beekeeping.

After the rainy conditions of the day before, I was surprised by how beautifully sunny it was the next day. Not only a lovely blue sky with nary a cloud, but perfect temperatures as well. We took an early tender to the dockside in Dartmouth, and from there a very short ferry ride (< 2 minutes) to wait for the train.

The train ride, on a historic steam engine pulling classic English cars, went through a pastoral countryside at times, and at others we rode along the shoreline where we could see holiday sunbathers enjoying the beautiful day.
